From Possibility Thinker to Impossibility Achiever 10 Keys to Becoming a Great Leader
1. Desire — 212o
You must have a case of “I want to.” You’ve got to put some logs on that fire and you’ve got to stoke it until it becomes a burning white-heat desire if you’re to achieve big-time success. If you don’t want it bad enough, you’re never going to get it.
You can drive a horse to water, you can’t make him drink, but you can salt his oats and make him thirsty. You’ve got to learn to salt your own oats ... and learn to salt the oats of other people.
2. Willingness to Work
It doesn’t matter how much desire you have. If you aren’t willing to work hard, you’re in trouble. You’ll always look for short cuts. There are a lot of guys who desire a million dollars but they go rob banks. You’ve got to be willing to work.
3. Belief
Read the first 36 pages of Think & Grow Rich. Look at page 36, “The Six Steps to Turn your Desire into Goals,” especially steps 5 and 6 where you write it out in great detail. Read your goals over and over with vivid imagination, until you fix what you want permanently in your mind — it gives you a clear vision that you can do it.
4. Commitment — 100%
You make the decision that you are going to put out your 100% effort every day. You’re going to go through all the “nos” and “yeses,” to do this business. The commitment will only come after the belief. It’s impossible and goes against nature to expect to make a 100% commitment to something that you don’t totally believe in.
5. Repetitious and Systematic — LFS
You must become a student of the business and master the Leadership Format System.
6. Know-How
You must have knowledge. Remember that knowledge does not produce activity...activity produces knowledge.
7. Relentless Inevitability
You must have a relentless inevitability. Through following a system, you become repetitiously predictable and dynamically methodical until you gain experience. Experience is the key to greatness.
8. High F.Q. (Failure Quotient)
A high failure quotient — If you don’t have a high failure quotient, you’re in trouble. It is not your I.Q., it is your F.Q. What does it take to knock you down? Can you get up one more time than you get knocked down? You have the ability to |overcome obstacles. Like a Timex watch — you’ve got to take a lickin’ and keep on tickin’.
9. Vision
People follow people who are visionary. The scriptures tell us that where there is no vision, the people perish. Lack of vision is one of the biggest obstacles to great leadership.
10. Director of Motivation
You must become a master MOTIVATOR. Leaders do make a difference. When you recruit someone do two things: First share your goals. Let them know they are dealing with a leader who’s going someplace. Second, help them set their goals — then help them accomplish them.
