Introduction Prototype
He began to think about his business like an engineer would who was working on a pre-production prototype of a mass-producible product. The prototype had to be constructed so that the resulting business system could be replicated over and over and over again - each business working as reliably as the thousands that preceded it.
Once developed, the prototype had to be tested and perfected long before ever going into mass production.
That is the secret to the Business Format Franchise, the Franchise Prototype. It is the model you must have to make your business work.
A Perfectly Running Model
During the last 30 years, HGI’s Leadership team developed the prototype in which we perfected the Leadership Format System.
During this time all assumptions were put to the test to determine if they would work before they actually became operational as part of the business. Without this prototype, HGI becomes just another business, vulnerable
to all of the pitfalls.
The System Runs the Business, You Run the System
Once the prototype is complete, the Leader then turns to the new associate and shows him how it works. And it does work.
The system runs the business. The people run the system.
The system is the solution to all the problems. It turns the business into a machine and drives it toward the objective. Discipline, standardization and order are critical to the system.
A rigorous training program must be completed before the McDonald’s franchisee is ever allowed to operate the franchise. McDonald’s has Hamburger U. McDonald’s doesn’t teach people how to make hamburgers – but how to run the system that makes the hamburgers - the system by which McDonald’s makes its customers happy every time. That system is the foundation of McDonald’s incredible success.
Once the franchisee learns the system, he has the key to his own business - a turnkey operation.
The franchisee obtains the business, learns how to run it and then “turns the key.” The business takes it from there - and the franchisee loves it. In a well-designed business, every problem has been well thought-out and solved in advance. All the franchisee has to do is learn how to manage the system.
Again, even though HGI is not a franchise - and does not sell franchises - we have applied this principle so that the HGI Leadership Format System can run your business.
